The Mehari Centre was established to address the systemic service gaps that Eritrean newcomers face in Ottawa. As a nonprofit driven by community needs, we offer programs that are both culturally and linguistically appropriate. Our dedicated team, led by an Executive Director and a volunteer Board, is focused on fostering a strong, healthy, and connected Eritrean community.

Through our dedicated efforts, we aim to create a supportive environment where Eritrean newcomers can thrive, equipped with the necessary tools and resources to build a better future for themselves and their families.

Our Cultural Adaptation support helps newcomers navigate cultural differences and understand Canadian laws. We also offer Education & Youth Support programs, including school readiness initiatives and family support, to ensure the success of the next generation. Additionally, our Rights & Responsibilities education provides legal knowledge on citizenship and workplace rights, providing essential services to community members to fully participate in Canadian society.
