About the Mehari Centre
The Mehari Centre is a non-profit, community-based organization in Ottawa, founded in 2022 by Eritrean Canadian professionals to address the need for more accessible social and health resources. Designed and led by Eritreans for Eritreans, the Centre provides culturally and linguistically anchored programs and services that support successful integration into Canadian society.

Our Mission
Mehari Centre’s mission is to promote and improve the wellbeing of Eritreans living in Ottawa through culturally and linguistically anchored programs and services that are grounded in evidence and community. Mehari Centre provides a safe and welcoming environment where Eritreans will be affirmed, equipped with needed information and resources, provided with space to heal and to connect with each other and the greater community.

Our services
The Mehari Centre offers a variety of services to help Eritreans integrate into Canadian society. In addition to bi-weekly drop-in settlement services and workshops at their location at 1547 Merivale Road, Unit 200.
By-weekly Drop-ins

Interactive settlement services and workshops held every two weeks, covering key topics to support Eritreans in adapting to life in Canada.
Children’s Program
Weekly interactive programs for children under 10, focused on:
- Supporting social and emotional development.
- Enhancing school readiness.
